Paulj. Kaiser

Department of Political Science, Mississippi State University, Mississippi State, MS 39762

In this article, current conceptions of state/society relations are examined in an international context. After a brief overview of research on state/society relations and the multinational corporation in Africa, a case study of Ismaili health-care initiatives in Tanzania is presented which illustrates the relevance of multi-level analysis to the study of civil society.
